My first steps out of the airport in Ho Chi Minh City I will never forget. It felt like all of my senses woke up to a new world, and even after many years, these memories seem so clear and vivid to me. I would then stay for six weeks and shoot about 12 rolls of film with the intention of learning more about the people who seemed so present and welcoming every time our eyes met.
